Congratulations to the winners of the Showboat Showdown Slopestyle Event at Snowbasin, held on Sunday, April 11th. Shown above are the first place winners:

Great action and unbelievable local talent! Thank you to everyone that participated in the event including our judges and especially our sponsors: DC, Monster, Alpine Sports, Saolomon, Blindside, Dimond Peak, Canyon Sports, Nidecker, 4front and Snowbasin. The event was a great way to wrap-up the season. We hope that everyone enjoyed the park expansion, new features, and of course the fantastic pipe at Snowbasin this year. There is still a week left to hit the pipe!

TOWN CHALLENGE SLATED AT SNOWBASIN

In the spirit of tradition, four Town Challenge races have been scheduled at Snowbasin. The GS races will take place on City Hill using the NASTAR start on Feb. 6, Feb. 27, and March 20. The finals will take place on March 27 on Wildcat Bowl. The Town Challenge is open to skiers and snowboarders, with awards given each week to individuals in each age category.

All races will be two runs with the best time counting for the places. Age groups are as follows for male and female categories: Under 13; 14-18; 19-35; 36-49; 50 and over. Races start at 11:00am and run until 1:30pm, with awards at 3:00pm on Earl’s Patio.

A raffle is held after each race, with donations from our sponsors. At this time, sponsors include Diamond Peak of Eden, Alpine Sports of Ogden, The Grizzley Center, and Budweiser.

Registration is in Earl’s Lodge from 8:30 am to 10 am. Cost per race is $10. All participants must fill out a waiver and release prior to racing. Teams consist of 4 individuals and 3 times count toward team awards at end of season. Team fees are $120 for 4 racers.

Register for the Amateur Snowboard Event at Snowbasin!

Registration starts tomorrow (1/16) for the USASA amateur snowboard competition at Snowbasin on January 23rd and 24th. All interested competitors can register beginning at 7AM Mountain time on usasa.org. Click on events/select Intermountain Region, and then select the competition this weekend that you would like to register for. At that time, they can join USASA if you are not already a member.

You can also log on to PCSBT.org / our Park City Snowboard Team site, then link to usasa.org.

Day of Registration at Snowbasin (15-20 spots) will be available on each day of the event beginning at 7:30AM.

PCTV at SNOWBASIN 1/7/10

Park City TV was in the house at Snowbasin! Hosts Jen (pictured here with Jodi Holmgren) and Link interviewed Snowbasin team members, talked to the Flying Kangaroos, learned a ski technique, and watched boarders jib it up in the base area park. Link even tried out adaptive equipment from Snowbasin Adaptive Sports before PCTV took a little mountain tour up Needles Express and over to Strawberry. The 1 1/2 hour feature story on Snowbasin aired last weekend, and will run again on 1/16 and 1/17 in the morning!

LUCKY 13 – Learn a Snowsport!

January is National Learn a Snowsport Month! Snowbasin welcomes newcomers to skiing AND snowboarding, and is happy to extend the following Lucky 13 promotion for the last 13 days of January:

$13 Rentals, $13 Lift Ticket (Littlecat Express), $13 Group Lesson

All ages, no blackout dates! Must be purchased as a package ($39) through the Snowsports Learning Center. Valid January 19 – 31. Group lessons are held twice each day – 10 am and 1 pm. Please arrive at the Snowsports Learning Center one hour prior to lesson to register and complete the rental process. For more information or make a reservation, call 801.620.1016. Don’t Miss the Bus! Snowbasin Ski Shuttle Starts Jan. 9th!

Just like the good ‘ol days! The Snowbasin Ski Shuttle will begin on January 9th, with public bus service to Snowbasin every Saturday from Weber and Davis Counties. With only 50 spaces available on the bus, you will want to call and reserve your space with a credit card. The round-trip fare is just $6 (which buys mom a little extra time in the day). Check out the schedule below. The Ski Bus and the Recreation Program are the perfect combination!

HOLIDAY BASE AREA PARK OPEN NOW THROUGH JAN 4th

The Snowbasin park crew has been busy changing up the base area terrain park just for the holidays! The rail area has been completely changed. There are seven rails out on the hill, and four of them are brand new for the season. There is something for riders of all levels to enjoy with two small, two medium, and three large features.

Preparation for the Dew Tour events has required extensive snowmaking in the regular park areas. So, the crew wanted to deliver a little something special for the Christmas break! Merry Christmas.

USASA Snowboard Series at Snowbasin Jan. 23-24

BIG CROWDS CONVERGE ON THE PLAZA FOR OPENING DAY

By 10:00am this morning, a record number of skiers and boarders had climbed aboard the Needles Express Gondola at Snowbasin. Arriving at 7:00am, were a half-dozen snowboarders from Layton. The winner of bragging rights as first in line was Brady Nielsen, a three-year season pass holder also from Layton. “It’s been a long summer, and I’m ready to ride,” said Nielson. “Snowbasin is close to home, the best mountain around, and the people are nice,” he said.

Snowbasin opened with a two and one half mile top to bottom run, with a small terrain park at the bottom of Littlecat. The resort was been able to generate an impressive 20” of man-made snow in order to open today. As of November 24, there has been a total of 32” of natural snow on the mountain, which is slightly behind last year’s natural totals at this time.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm on the plaza early this morning,” said Jodi Holmgren, Director of Marketing and Public Relations. “Pass sales are significantly up over last year, and we are off to a great start” she said. In the first hour, Snowbasin saw as many skiers/boarders as they did the entire opening day last year.

One of the first skiers to arrive was Steve Rush, a long-time regular on the mountain. “Skiing at Snowbasin is my favorite way to kick-off the holidays,” said Rush.
