Come out and celebrate the fall & summer passing into the cold hands of ‘Ol Man Winter with cold beer and Bavarian inspired cuisine like bratwurst, and sauerbraten.  It won’t be long before you’re dreaming of that powder shot off piste, or that perfect groomer on one of those crisp early mornings during the heart of winter.  Powder Days.  Storm Cycles.  Obsessive-compulsive weather updates.  New gear.  Pow Stashes. Good friends.  It won’t be long.  But before that time comes, let’s celebrate the wonderful bounty of the high alpine fall with some of Utah’s finest craft beer companies and brews.  Breweries represented this year (maybe more stay tuned):

Food Drive Event for the Utah Food Bank and the ‘Beat Hunger by a Mile Campaign’

The Snowbasin Resort Culinary team, led by Executive Chef Eric Byrd and Executive Sous Chef Scott Sniggs, will make batches of their own personal chilis to have out for the guests of the event to sample, taste, and then vote on.  The winning chili will be served all year long at Needles Lodge for the 2014.15 season.  Yes you, our guests, get to be a part of the process of selecting next season’s chili at Needle’s Lodge.  So please, come up and join us in this very important culinary process that we want to share with our guests.

To get your chili tasting kit, it will cost you $14 per person with $2 of every purchase going directly to the Utah Food Bank.  If you bring non-perishable food items to help fill our ‘Beat Hunger Gondola’ that will be set-up in the middle of the plaza, your tasting kit will be automatically reduced to $12; with the $2 of each purchase still going to the UT Food Bank.

After the live music concludes, the ballots will be counted, and the winning chili, and the chef that prepared it, will be announced.

The ‘Beat Hunger Gondola’ full of non-perishable food items and the final amount of the cash donation will be presented downtown to the UT Food Bank during their annual food drive event.

What a great way to spend Labor Day in the high alpine, sampling great home-made chili, tasting great food, listening to free live music, and helping a great cause in Utah!
