Walking/Hiking with Poles: Learn the different uses and techniques.

Come learn how to use poles to maximize your work out, reduce stress, and have fun! Walking or hiking with poles is an activity that can be enjoyed by anyone, from those recovering from injuries to elite athletes who are cross training. Walking with poles can burn up to 77% more calories than walking alone, and activate up to 90% of the body’s muscles. It can be used for stabilization and can drastically reduce stress on the lower extremities. Come and learn how to walk with poles and the benefits of this activity!

Dog Days Of Snowbasin Resort

Have your dog by your side for this hike to the bottom of Strawberry. This hike will allow you and your best friend to enjoy the beauty of Snowbasin Resort together. Dogs should be leashed at all times. Water and bathrooms are available at the bottom of Strawberry.

Tour Of The Cirques

Come prepared because were going to the top! Hike from the top of Needles Gondola to the ridge and then from there to either Strawberry Peak or Mount Ogden Peak and then back to the Needles Gondola. This strenuous hike will give you a bird’s eye view of both the Ogden and Salt Lake Valleys.

Difficulty: Strenuous

The Science Of Snowmaking

Have you ever wondered how we make snow? Learn about the different aspects of snowmaking: snowguns, snow qualities, wet bulb and much more when you hike from the top of Needles to Snowbasin’s state-of-the-art snowmaking building. Tour the snowmaking building then hike down to the base area.

Beaver Dams of Snowbasin Resort

This hike starts and finishes on Snowbasin Resort’s trail system but, in between, you will be bushwhacking through a wild meadow and slogging (in the best way) through some marshy areas and streams. You will see beaver dams and lodges and hopefully some of Snowbasin’s diverse wildlife. There may also be the opportunity to see the USFS yurt along the way. Water resistant footwear and a long-sleeved shirt is recommended for this hike.

All About Geo-Caching

What is Geo-caching? Your guide will answer this question along with the etiquette and the how-to of geo-caching.  As there are numerous caches in the Snowbasin Resort area, you never know what you are going to find! Etiquette requires that if you take something you need to have something to put in the box, so bring a small trinket with you. Please bring a smart phone with a GPS app or your own GPS unit with you. Learn Disc Golf

Learn how to play disc golf from and experienced player.   This tour offers the opportunity to play Snowbasin Resort’s 9-hole disc golf course and learn a few tricks on the way. Rental discs are available in the Grizzly Center. If you have your own discs the course is always open and always free. For more information check out: www.nudga.org

Wildflowers of Snowbasin Resort

Enjoy Snowbasin Resort’s diverse landscape with numerous wildflowers, shrubs and trees with an experienced guide. Along the way, flowers and other plants will be identified and the effects of weather, wildlife and environment will be discussed. This tour has something for everyone. The hike leaves from the top of the Needles Gondola and depending on the group, can either return to Needles for a scenic ride back down or the hike can continue to the base area. Length and difficulty can be adjusted to fit the group. The quantity and quality of Snowbasin’s wildflowers are entirely weather dependent. More moisture means more flowers. Purchase ‘Wild Snowbasin’ in the Grizzly Center to follow along.

How A Ski Lift Works
