Snowbasin Nordic Challenge on President’s Day

2/4/10 – You can still participate in the Snowbasin Nordic Challenge on President’s Day, February 15th, for a good cause!   A portion of the proceeds will benefit the rebuilding of Hospitalito Atitlan in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. The original hosptial was buried in a mudslide.

Beginners and experts are welcome for the 5km and 15km Freestyle format, both classic and skating techniques. Awards will be presented for top finishers in each category. All participants will receive a shirt, and will be entered into a raffle for skis, poles, roller skis and other prizes.  Same day registration $17. Look for the tent near Parking Lot #2.

TOWN CHALLENGE SLATED AT SNOWBASIN

In the spirit of tradition, four Town Challenge races have been scheduled at Snowbasin. The GS races will take place on City Hill using the NASTAR start on Feb. 6, Feb. 27, and March 20. The finals will take place on March 27 on Wildcat Bowl. The Town Challenge is open to skiers and snowboarders, with awards given each week to individuals in each age category.

All races will be two runs with the best time counting for the places.  Age groups are as follows for male and female categories: Under 13; 14-18; 19-35; 36-49; 50 and over. Races start at 11:00am and run until 1:30pm, with awards at 3:00pm on Earl’s Patio.

 A raffle is held after each race, with donations from our sponsors. At this time, sponsors include Diamond Peak of Eden, Alpine Sports of Ogden, The Grizzley Center, and Budweiser. 

Registration is in Earl’s Lodge from 8:30 am to 10 am. Cost per race is $10. All participants must fill out a waiver and release prior to racing.  Teams consist of 4 individuals and 3 times count toward team awards at end of season.  Team fees are $120 for 4 racers.
