Flew The Coop Slated at Snowbasin July 25th

Summer concerts in Wildflower Meadow continue every Sunday with Flew The Coop (Classic Rock) on July 25th from 1 – 5pm. A delicious BBQ begins at 12:30pm, with a variety of cold beverages! Bring your sun shade, blanket and/or chairs and enjoy the afternoon. Limited tables are also available in the meadow, just infront of the Grizzly Center at the base. No charge for admission! The music series continues through October 3rd.

State law prohibits outside alcohol. Please – no dogs or outside food in the Meadow.

SNOWBASIN, A SUN VALLEY RESORT, TO HOST THE WINTER DEW TOUR’S TOYOTA CHAMPIONSHIP, FEB. 10-13

July 19, 2010 – The Winter Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long winter action sports tour, today announced that Snowbasin, a Sun Valley Resort, in Ogden, Utah will host the third and final stop of the Tour’s third season, February 10-13, 2011. Snowbasin is elevating the four-day championship event by building a 22-foot superpipe while showcasing the top winter athletes from around the world competing in freeskiing (slopestyle and superpipe) and snowboarding (slopestyle and superpipe). Snowbasin is a host resort for the second consecutive year on the Winter Dew Tour, closing out the season with the Toyota Championship for the first time this season.

“Bringing the championship event to Utah demonstrates the wonderful partnership that we have with both the Summer and Winter Dew Tour,” said Jeff Robbins, President & CEO of the Utah Sports Commission. “Last year proved to be a great event generating significant economic impact and worldwide exposure for the State of Utah, and we look forward to building upon the tremendous success of last year now playing host to the season-ending championship event in Utah.”

Boasting the largest media platform in all of winter action sports, all three stops of the Winter Dew Tour will be televised Live on NBC, simulcast on Verizon V CAST and around the world on Eurosport 2 and Fox Sports Australia, with additional broadcasts on USA Network, MTV2 and Universal HD.

Entering its third season, the top athletes in the world will take part in the 2010-11 Winter Dew Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup that will be awarded at the Toyota Championship at Snowbasin Resort in Ogden, Utah. COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This 9.2-mile loop consists of 90% wide single-track that winds east across the lower mountain.  The start/finish is at the Grizzly Center, ride the Green Pond Loop past the Snowbasin Access Trail to the intersection with Last Chance.  Follow Last Chance until it merges with Needles then drop into Sunshine, which will connect back with Needles then continue to Maples and back to the start/finish.

Way Out West Music Fest Slated at Snowbasin – August 7th – 8th

The WOWFest (Way Out West Music Festival) is the inaugural event for an annual festival to be held at Snowbasin.
The two-day show has been schedule for Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8, 2010, and  features Dwight Yoakam : Martin Sexton : Sam Bush : Dave Mason : Robben Ford : Jonathan McEuen : Cow Bop : Trever Green : No Where Man & Whisky Girl : Fred Schmitt : Jesse Rodgers and a second stage featuring many others.
The festival will showcase an array of arts-n-crafts from the surrounding area as well as food, beer gardens, activities, beautiful scenery, and a 5-star concert.

Ski Patrol Training Scenario – April 2nd – Public Invited!

(4/1/10 – EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF NEW SNOW!) Snowbasin Ski Patrol will be doing a training scenario in Middle Bowl Cirque involving a large inbounds avalanche with numerous buried and or injured victims. This training will involve Ski Patrols and dog teams from ski areas all over the Wasatch and is scheduled to begin at about 10:00 AM. Anyone who is interested can observe. The Ski Patrol is also looking for willing public participants to help out. Participation is open to anyone that is interested. Being involved in this training should be a fun opportunity to experience what would happen in the case of a large inbounds avalanche. Participants will be directed and organized by Snowbasin Ski Patrol. Anyone interested in participating in this training should meet at the top of the Needles Gondola at 9:20 AM on Friday, April 2nd.
