Snowbasin Opens for Summer Operations Father’s Day Weekend

Tune your bike and pull out your hiking shoes Snowbasin will be starting up summer operations Father’s Day weekend!  Needles Gondola will begin running on June 16th and will be open weekends only through early October.  Hours of operation are Saturdays 9 am to 5:30 pm and Sundays 9 am to 5 pm.  Food service at Needles Lodge will be limited to snacks and drinks until June 30th when we will offer a full lunch menu.  Don’t forget about our Saturday Night Mountain Top Dining beginning June 30th as well as our Sunday Entertainment and BBQs starting Father’s Day.  Snowbasin looks forward to seeing you on the mountain this summer!

On a Snowbasin guided tour you can learn about what the resort has to offer during the summer.  Discover Snowbasin’s extensive history, the science of snowmaking, or see what wildlife comes out when all the snow melts.   Meet your tour guide every Saturday and Sunday at 1pm at the Moose in front of Earl’s Lodge from June 23rd through September 2nd.  Come join Snowbasin for the chance to learn and experience our summer fun and deep history. Best of all its FREE!

 June 30th & July 1st: All about Geo-caching (base hike) – with Tim Franchi

  • What is Geo-caching? Tim Franchi will answer this, along with the etiquette and the how to of geo-caching. On this tour you never know what you could find.  If you have a GPS bring it or get a head start by visiting http://www.geocaching.com/ 1-1.5 hours

 June 23rd & 24th: Avalanche prevention and science -with Frank Waikart

  • Learn from the pro. Frank Waikart has 12 years of experience working in snow safety. Let Frank walk you thru the ins and outs of avalanches. Frank will show you what he looks for in snow conditions and the tools he uses. Have a chance to see a gun tower and hold a hand charge. 1.5-2 hours

Sunday Entertainment and BBQ with Caught in the Groove

Join us on Earl’s Patio Sunday for a delicious BBQ beginning at 12:00 pm. The free music series will take place from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm.  Bring your blankets, chairs and sunshades to enjoy the afternoon of good food and music!

Saturday Night Mountain-Top Dining

For an elevated dining experience in the summer, enjoy a mountain-top dinner on Saturday evenings from 5:30 to 9:00 pm starting June 30th. With a breath taking backdrop of the resort and valleys you will enjoy a variety of food options from Smoked Duck Carpaccio to Pan Seared Halibut.  For a full Menu Click “HERE“. Father’s Day BBQ Sunday June 17th, 2013

No better way to celebrate Father’s Day with your Dad then taking him to Snowbasin for an Ol’ Fashioned BBQ featuring Grilled Tri-Tip, BBQ Pork Spareribs, and Hamburgers just to name a few!  (click “Here” for Full Menu)  The BBQ starts at 12:00 pm and will go through 5:00 pm on Earl’s Lodge Patio. The BBQ will be complemented with live music from 12:00 pm through 4:30 pm.  So come up to Snowbasin and treat your Dad to great food, Live Music from Dizzy Desoto, and amazing views on his special day.

Mt. Ogden Midweek Race Series at Snowbasin

The Mt. Ogden Midweek Race Series is open to the public, and held every Wednesday beginning June 6th at Snowbasin. The series will run through the summer leading up to the Mt. Ogden 100k Ultra Endurance Mountain Bike Race and Festival at Snowbasin on August 18th.  Registration for the midweek races is from 5:30pm till 15 minutes before race start on the day of the race.

The Kid Custer 10k and 25k Trail Run Fundraiser

Snowbasin will be hosting “The Kid Custer” 10k and 25k trail run event on June 23rd to raise money for The Livastride Foundation’s scholarship and grief counseling funds.  Additionally Livastride will also have the ”Custer Cup” race offering a corporate challenge for those who would like to get a team together to run.  The “Custer Cup” will include a group of 4 runners, each runner will be running the 25k and winners will be determined by overall aggregate time.  Each team must belong to the same business or organization, or have a corporate sponsor.  All races are hosted by the Livastride Foundation in memory of Brody Johnson.
