Utah Avalanche Center Snowbasin Resort Freeride Workshop January 26th – 28th 2014

The Utah Avalanche Center, Snowbasin Resort, and Amer Sports are pleased to announce the 2014 Snowbasin Freeride Workshop for competitive athletes, filmmakers, those with competitive or film production aspirations, and those who want to be more confident in exposed backcountry lines.

To ride big lines in uncontrolled terrain & live to ride another day you need to be smart.  In this workshop, accomplished pros will teach you what they have learned about:

·       Critical decision-making in high-stakes environments

·       Assessing snow stability and route viability

·       Active terrain management

·       Effective partner rescue

·       Situation management when things go wrong

·       Lessons learned the hard way

We will focus on big mountain freeride issues, addressing steep, complicated terrain, working with resort resources, assessing unfamiliar terrain, and balancing the desire to bag big dramatic lines with surviving to ride another day.  These principles apply whether you are trying to get a cover shot across the street from a resort, spending a day touring with friends, riding a storm day outside the resort, or dropping a 45 degree line in AK.

This will be presented in 2 days of combined classroom and on-snow practice by pro riders for pro riders, advanced skiers, and anyone who likes to use backcountry terrain aggressively.
