SNOWBASIN TO HOST WINTER DEW TOUR, JANUARY 15-17
The Winter Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long winter action sports tour, announced that Snowbasin, a Sun Valley Resort, in Huntsville Utah, near Ogden Utah, will host the second of three stops Jan. 15-17, 2010 for the Tour’s second season. The Winter Dew Tour showcases top winter athletes from around the world competing in freeskiing (slopestyle and superpipe) and snowboarding (slopestyle and superpipe) for both men and women. Snowbasin, which hosted the Men’s and Women’s Downhill and Super-G events for the 2002 Winter Olympics, is a new host resort for the Winter Dew Tour, which had its inaugural season in 2008-09. ”Utah hosting the Winter Dew tour along with the Summer Dew tour continues to illustrate the growth Utah is experiencing in the action and adventure sports industry”, said Jeff Robbins, president & CEO of the Utah Sports Commission, “Utah will receive significant benefit from this new event providing an anticipated $5 million in economic impact and $6 million in national and international media exposure.”
All three stops of the Winter Dew Tour will be televised Live on NBC and simulcast around the world on Eurosport 2, Extreme Channel and Fox Sports Australia, with additional coverage on USA Network and MTV2.
“Both the Summer and Winter Dew Tours have proven to be well regarded events by fans and athletes alike,” said Kent Lyons, General Manager of Snowbasin. “We are beyond excited to host the Winter Dew Tour, and we feel that Snowbasin will make a great fit.”
“The state of Utah has had a tremendous partnership with the Summer Dew Tour over the last three years which has exposed our beautiful state to millions of people around the world,” said Lieutenant Governor Gary R. Herbert. “Utah is the State of Sport, and we’re looking forward to hosting the world’s best freeski and snowboard athletes this winter at Snowbasin.”
“We are thrilled to be the host community for this event,” said Mayor Matthew R. Godfrey, Mayor of Ogden, Utah. “Ogden’s national reputation as being the Mecca of high adventure recreation is a perfect match for a premier extreme winter sporting event like the Winter Dew Tour.”
“We are extremely excited to have Snowbasin as our new host resort for the second stop of the 2009-10 season,” said Chris Prybylo, Vice President of Events for Alli, the Alliance of Action Sports. “Utah has proven to be a great fit for the Summer Dew Tour and we look forward to continuing that success for the winter competitions.”
The complete 2009-10 Winter Dew Tour schedule is as follows:
Date Location
Dec. 18-20 Breckenridge Ski Resort – Breckenridge, Colo.

Wow how did we go from crappy park last year to this. amazing I hope this years park will be much better and they don’t screw up the halfpipe again.
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:18 am
Word on the streets is that Snowbasin will be taking down the halfpipe after the contest… This the most asinine BS yet. There are basically saying if the moneys right we will make the shoe fit, but don’t expect us to wear them.
PS. BEAR, stop haten’.

July 25th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Wait we have a half pipe-terrain park? JK
July 27th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
Thank you for your comments Brandon. As you may know, we have a new GM as of last January. He is making a major commitment to terrain park expansion, and it’s pretty exciting! We will have approximately 20 new features for the upcoming year (don’t know where you ‘heard’ six). The pipe for the Winter Dew Tour is going to take more than 30 million gallons of water. That’s pretty huge! You can also look forward to more events like the Rail Jam we had at the end of last season. See you on the mountain!
August 2nd, 2009 at 10:36 pm
lets hope that basin finally has a good terrain park and at least a half decent pipe (:
Can’t wait for the snowboarding season to start this year is going to be so rad!!!

Hey, does anyone know of where to get tickets for this event? Please let me know if you do, I have been searching for them for weeks and still no luck. Thanks guys.
August 7th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
Whitney, There is no cost for the winter DEW tour to be a spectator….
August 9th, 2009 at 5:53 am
Is Snowbasin’s new manager a snowboarder? It looks like a lot of effort and money is aimed at the snowboard sector…30 million gallons of water seems like a lot, does that mean the ski runs are going to be ignored? I think the boards need an area away from the skiers to do their thing, not trying to merge them on little cat where they jump into you as you try to get in line for the needles gondola. Super pipe is fine where it is located except if you want to run a olympic downhill, at least it is out of the way like the tubing hill.
August 20th, 2009 at 10:26 am
Dew tour is for both skiers and boarders. Pipe location good? T hall would boost directly into the john paul chair.
October 19th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
hey i was wondering if there was going to be an amatuer part at basin? if you know please email me at michaelhanson1995@hotmail.com thanks.
October 22nd, 2009 at 5:05 pm
where will the park be for the dew tour? cuz the one on porqes is always drifted over?
October 23rd, 2009 at 12:04 pm
We have a great set up! The Dew Tour events will take place just up from the base for easy viewing, and will not impede on skiers ability to enjoy the mountain. The half pipe will be located on School Hill, and the slopestyle event will be held on Showboat. FYI – Our advanced park, Coyote Park, is located on Strawberry. (No park on Porky.)

To post number 11, Jim, I think you need to get off of your high horse. It doesn’t matter if a person is on a board or skis, it is their ability level that causes problems. If you don’t want to ski with boarders, go to deer valley.

December 15th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
So — why are you looking at the Snowbasin blog?
December 15th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
Jody, The only reason I can think that they are on the snowbasin blog is that they are a wolf creek season pass holder, one who is bored in bed, recovering from injury after falling on one of wolf creeks many ice fields on that extremly diverse mountain
P.S: I’m extremely proud of SB’S managment this year! I’ve seen many positive changes and have had a wonderful season so far! Keep up the fantasting work guys!

Hey are they going to let us ride the park before the tour and after it?
December 21st, 2009 at 2:59 pm
Coming with two sons (40 something). 1 new skier. Planned to go to Snowbasin 15-18. This event sounds like fun but is is it going to mess us up for just skiing? Suggestions from locals welcomed.
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:13 pm
The location of the Dew Tour events is very much seperated from access to lifts and will not interfere with your ability to ski and have a good time. I think it will add to the experience!
January 6th, 2010 at 10:12 pm
Hi Snowbasin Folks!
I’m trying to find out the closest place to stay to Snowbasin ski area. I’ve researched, but it doesn’t look like there are many obvious lodging options close to the mountain. Also never been to Ogden or Snowbasin, so don’t have a good sense for the area. Suggestions?
I work for GoPro, and we’re coming to Snowbasin as one of the sponsors of the Dew Tour. There are 2-3 of us who will be working a booth & getting footage on the slopes. We’re stoked for UT!
Any suggestions on lodging that will minimize logistics of getting to / from the park each day would be greatly appreciated!
Or, if making the trip back / forth from Ogden each day is recommended, all good too.
Thanks very much for your guidance!
January 7th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
Anybody know how much tickets are gonna be?
January 7th, 2010 at 10:31 pm
There is no cost for spectators to enjoy the Dew Tour at Snowbasin! Foot passengers can ride the Littlecat Express Quad to the viewing area for free, or it is a very short walk from the base area. Park-n-ride transportation from Ogden is also free (and highly recommended). IF you want to get a closer view, 250 Action Zone passes are being sold at: http://www.ogden.travel. The pass is $100, and is good Friday – Sunday. The concert on 25th Street on Friday night is also Free!
January 8th, 2010 at 9:27 am
Ogden is only 16 miles from the resort. It is an easy drive.
January 8th, 2010 at 2:52 pm

January 12th, 2010 at 4:13 pm
I am trying to find out what competitions are going to be here at Snowbasin!!!!! Cannot even find the information on the Winter Dew Tour site…
January 12th, 2010 at 11:13 pm
We have ski lessons on 1/17– smarter to just get there before 8am or use the Park-n-ride shuttle?
January 13th, 2010 at 11:04 am
What time are your lessons? Employees will not be parking in lots #1, #2 or #3, but there will athletes, sponsors and media coming up early as well. If you want to roll the dice, you can drive up. If you want to make sure that you are here without a glitch, I would suggest the free park-n-ride. It’s up to you!
January 13th, 2010 at 12:27 pm
Will the shuttle be running all day from the resort to Ogden, so we can leave early or whenever we want?
January 13th, 2010 at 12:34 pm
Free park-n-ride transportation will be available from two locations in Ogden. Buses will leave the lots every 20-30 min. Peak hours, every 15-20 min.
LOCATIONS: WSU Dee Event Ctr. – South Side, Staker Parson Lot/West Side of South Weber Park-n-Ride on Hwy. 89
Friday, 15th 10am to 5pm,
Saturday, 16th 9:30am to 8:30pm,
Sunday, 17th 9am to 3:30pm
Please: No Overnight Parking at Snowbasin!
January 13th, 2010 at 12:41 pm
I can’t find the schedule for the days events. Where is that posted? Thanks.
January 13th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
There is a post on this blog. Scroll down to the Competition Schedule post! It is also listed on allisports.com
January 14th, 2010 at 8:52 am
Will there be any shuttle/overflow parking arrangements for (upper) Ogden Valley residents? eg at either end of Trappers Loop (sinclair & lakeside resort)?
January 14th, 2010 at 8:34 pm
We have a back-up plan, but if I told you about it people would park there and we wouldn’t have a back-up plan anymore! Come on up and we will do our very best to take good care of you. Plan on extra time for possible traffic, and go with the flow. If you can car-pool with neighbors from Ogden Valley, even better! Thanks.
